Heritage, Culture & Art

From San Xavier del Bac Mission, founded in 1692, to Picacho Peak, the site of the most westerly Civil War battle, there are countless sites to explore within an hour or so. Nearby mining towns, such as Bisbee, are both alive and well, while others are considered ghost towns; with ghost sightings common in nearby Fort Bowie, Gleeson and Ruby. The living west can be found on the streets of Tombstone and artists flock to nearby Tubac, where cattle roam freely on its famous golf course built in the 1950s by a partnership including Bing Crosby. Hollywood is no stranger to this area, there have been over 60 western movies filmed in and around the area.
